The Weerribben-Wieden National Park is a wonderful water area. The best way to experience this area is to explore it by canoe, sloop, whisper boat or bicycle. In this way you can see Weeribben’s typical bridges and peat houses and wander back in time to the world of the turf-cutters.

Bicycle

Various cycling routes are available at reception. Alternating nature excursions leave from here to Blokzijl, Dwarsgracht, Giethoorn and you pass by the famous ferryboat at (Teahouse near Mariet).

Canoe

To help you along the way in the water, the ANWB (Dutch AA) and the Forestry Commission have set out 3 amazing canoe routes for you, which are:
# Ossenzijl route (7km): This route brings you through the northern part of the Weerribben.
# Kalenberg route (8km): This route brings you through the heart of the Weerribben.
# Weerribben route (14km): This route brings you through almost the entire area.

Sloop

This is certainly one of the nicest ways to explore this lovely area. You can sail through the entire top off Overijssel and/or part of Friesland from our recreation centre. Places such as Giethoorn and Blokzijl are easily reached by sloop.The minimum age to hire a sloop is 18 years, valid identification is obligatory. This is for an Antaris sloop 520 with a very quiet diesel motor.
